The club meets on Friday evenings at Summerfields Leisure Centre, Hastings from 8pm to 10pm. The club provides training for all of the Royal Life Saving Society UK awards from Rookie (aged about 8 years) upwards. Pool and Beach Lifeguard courses feature regularly in our training programme. The Beach Lifeguard courses provide a focus for open water training together with boat handling, assistant beach lifeguard award, Survive and Save – open water. The National Water Safety Management Programme is also becoming popular.
The club is now well established at it's new base at East Hastings Sea Angling Association .at The Stade, Hastings (next to the Lifeboat). We now provide beach patrols in the summer season from the club's base. The current location has provided new focus, enthusiasm and is an exciting turning point for the club as we can utilise the excellent facilities at the club.
Our club has a keen, dedicated group who cover a variety of open water events in the area including sea swims, triathlons, rowing regattas and safety in action for local school children. They also enter competitions and arrange local competitions run on club evenings.
The club organises monthly community life support courses offered free of charge. Hastings Voluntary Lifeguards also ensures, through its club welfare officer, that all Trainers have enhanced DBS checks.
Clubs within the Sussex Branch compete annually for the prestigious Duke of Norfolk Trophy. This recognises all activities within a club including awards, competitions, community awards, providing lifeguard and safety cover at special events. It was with great pride that Hastings Lifeguard Club accepted this award at the Sussex Branch AGM again this year. Join us for next years’ challenge!!
