Life Support

Life Support

 

This award provides a competent level of skills and knowledge in Basic Life Support (practiced on an adult manikin but knowledge of child and baby CPR) and in the diagnosis and treatment of choking.

 

Course members learn casualty management, assessment of a non breathing casualty, perform basis life support, manage regurgitation, recovery position, diagnose and treat choking. Benefits of an AED.

 

There is an option to add first aid covering diagnosis and treatment of bleeding and shock.

Life Support 3

 

This award is designed for those who train regularly and for trainers / instructors.

Course members learn casualty management, if a casualty is breathing, the knowledge and skills of basic life support (CPR) on adults, children and infants.

In addition the use of a barrier when giving CPR, manage regurgitation, recovery position, diagnose and treat choking. Course members will deal with a simulated incident.

 

There is an option to add first aid covering diagnosis and practical treatment of bleeding and shock.

Save a Life Series Workshops:

The Save a Life series workshops aim to teach basic emergency skills to anyone who cares for a baby, child or adult.

Would you know what to do if a baby stopped breathing?

 

This short programme is designed for carers of infants. This workshop teaches emergency skills including Infant Life Support (CPR), Infant choking (diagnosis and treatment) and Infant drowning (diagnosis and Treatment).

  • There will be lots of practical
  • This is not a vocational qualification
  • The course is about 2 hours in duration

What would you do if someone stopped breathing?

 

This short programme enables members of local communities to know what to do in an emergency. The workshop teaches emergency skills to help adults who have stopped breathing, are choking or have suffered a heart attack.

Do you know how to save a life with an AED?

 

This short programme gives the confidence to use this lifesaving equipment in an emergency. There are many public AEDs now available in communities for public use. Be confident to use it and help save a life.

You will learn why AED’s are so important and how to use one.
