The club planned two main events for it’s 40th Anniversary – a 40 hours marathon and club members achieving 40 Bronze Medallions.
40 hours Marathon:
This started at 4am on Friday 3rd August and finished at 8pm on Saturday 4th August (the last three hours undertaken whilst going round in the Carnival Procession on the back of a trailer. We aimed to increase the profile of the club, encourage new members and raise funds for a new rescue boat.
The marathon was staged at Adventure Golf by the Trampolines and we’re very grateful to Chris Richards and his team for their continued support to the club. Members had the choice of cycling on static bikes or rowing on rowing machines or a mixture of both. There were no gaps, even through the night and early hours.
A rowing machine was loaded onto a trailer whilst another member continued cycling. The last three hours was very well supported whilst taking part in the Carnival Procession.
We’re grateful to current and ‘past’ members for coming and taking part – we even had new members sign up!!
40 Bronze Medallions:
The aim was to achieve 40 Bronze Medallions, including theory, resuscitation, first aid and pool skills, by 40 members – both current and ‘ex-members’.
There were two assessment dates, so we’re grateful to all the assessors who also gave their time, skills and expertise.
Well done to everyone who achieved their Bronze Medallions and thanks to everyone who made it happen, especially the casualties – couldn’t do it without you.
